Government Denies LPG & Fuel Shortage Rumors: India Has 60 Days Stock

New Delhi (India) March 26:In light of the rumors about LPG shortage and petrol pumps running out of fuel leading to long queues, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas strongly denied it. India has 74 days of total reserve capacity, and the actual stock cover is about 60 days at this moment. The government says that India is completely safe for the coming months.
"Nearly two months of steady supply is available for every Indian citizen, regardless of what happens globally. The next 2 months of crude procurement have also been secured," the ministry said in an official statement.

Domestic LPG Production Hits 50 TMT

According to the ministry, the domestic production at refineries has been increased by 40 percent, which has raised daily LPG production to 50 TMT from a total daily requirement of approximately 80 TMT.
As a result of this, the net daily import requirement has reduced to only 30 TMT - in other words, India is now making much more than it has to import. Besides domestic production, 800 TMT of confirmed inbound LPG cargoes have already been secured and are on their way from other countries, and will be arriving at India's 22 LPG import terminals.

Crude from 40+ Suppliers, No Shortage

Officials revealed that even on the 27th day of the West Asia crisis , the country still has almost two months of continuous supply for all citizens. Besides that, with procurement done ahead of time, India will be safe in the next few months.
India is receiving crude oil from more than 40 global suppliers despite worries around the Strait of Hormuz. Actually, the greater availability from other regions has more than compensated for any disruption. Across the country, refineries are operating at over 100 percent capacity, thus maintaining the fuel supply without interruption.

PNG: Cheaper, Better Choice for Homes

The government also explained that the notion that PNG , being pushed, is related to LPG running out is wrong. It stated that PNG is simply a superior, low-cost and very convenient fuel for Indian households. The government also asked the people to base their information about fuel and gas availability solely on the official government sources.

Govt Warns Against Fake Shortage Rumors

The ministry has also issued a warning against the spread of false information on the internet. It indicated that some posts and videos are causing unnecessary concern by presenting misleading images and making groundless allegations of shortages. Citizens have been encouraged to follow only official messages. Besides, the government noted that serious measures could be taken against those individuals who spread rumours which may lead to loss of people's trust.
