US Family Leaves America for Spain After Shocking Life Events

In a post on Instagram Zach Lincoln shared two painful experiences that changed their lives forever. One was a school shooting scare involving their children and the other was a huge medical bill despite having health insurance.

School Shooting Scare Changed Everything

Lincoln recalled the day they were shopping at IKEA and got an emergency message from their daughters preschool. The message said there was a shooter on the school grounds. Their daughters were locked inside a closet for safety. Thankfully both children were safe.. Lincoln admitted that the incident had a deep emotional impact on the family.

They were safe but we were not the same after that he wrote. This experience made the couple question their familys future in the United States.

$20,000 Medical Bill Despite Insurance

after Lincolns wife broke her ankle. Although they had health insurance the treatment cost $20,000 over two years. Lincoln said this huge medical expense made them realize they could no longer live like this.

We can't keep doing this they thought. After these two incidents the couple decided it was time for a start. They sold their family home gave away most of their belongings said goodbye to friends and left the United States.

According to Lincoln it was one of the decisions they ever made but they believed it was the right choice for their daughters.

Why They Chose Spain

The family traveled across Europe before deciding to settle in Spain through the countrys Digital Nomad Visa. This visa allows remote workers and self-employed professionals from outside the European Union to live and work in Spain while earning income from overseas.

Eight months after moving Lincoln said the family feels much safer and has a quality of life. They now walk everywhere no longer worry about school shootings. Do not fear medical bills causing financial hardship.

Lincoln said they still love the United States but wanted a future for their children.
