IRGC Urges Americans To Reject Trump In Midterm Elections

Hossein Mohebbi, a spokesman for the IRGC, said the appeal was not expected to have an effect on US policy in the short term. But he said Iran was trying to speak directly to American voters, who he said might take different political action if they knew more about the war.

"The American people are not knowledgeable about many developments. We believe if they knew more, they would think differently and take other decisions," he said.

Nuclear Claims Challenged

The IRGC alleges that Trump has been trying to fool Americans into believing that Iran's nuclear program does not have peaceful intentions. It also challenged U.S. claims that Iran's blockade of the crucial Strait of Hormuz- a choke point for the global oil trade - is largely successful. Reuters reports Iranian officials say the strait is still under heavy Iranian control, but data shows that oil exports are bouncing back.

"The fact that the Americans might manage, at great expense, considerable trouble and high risk, to sneak a small vessel through the Strait of Hormuz under cover of darkness to export, say, 100 or 200 barrels of oil does not mean the Strait is open," he said.

Trump has stated that the US war with Iran was fought in order to prevent Iran from making a nuclear bomb. Mohebbi dismissed the argument, insisting that Iran was not after nuclear weapons.

He called Trump an "inveterate liar" and questioned his intentions, framing his comments as part of the IRGC's general criticism of Trump.

‘Death To America’ Explained

The IRGC letter also tries to contextualize one of the most iconic slogans of the Iranian political system, "Death to America". It suggests that the slogan is targeted at the US political system, not to the American people.

“‘Death to America’ is a prayer for the eradication of the diabolical ruling elite whose seat of power is the White House,” the letter said.

IRGC Targets Trump Administration

The IRGC stresses how the interests and grievances of regular Iranians and Americans converged, and how they have both suffered at the hands of political leaders taking them into expensive wars. It calls on Americans to oppose US support for Israel and US military interventions abroad, and argues that peaceful coexistence was possible if US policy changed.

Throughout the document, the common citizens of America are pitted against Washington's politicians, the Americans are told that the taxpayers are bearing the costs of the wars the US wages. The Americans are asked to demand an end to the war from their political masters, and warned of what is the ultimate price of war.

IRGC Declares War Victory

The document also proclaims Iran the winner of the war, with the opinion that the US has not achieved a single one of the stated objectives, including the suppression of Iran's nuclear programme.

“The United States and Israel expended thousands of bombs and missiles, striking government and residential buildings, dozens of less-advanced and lower-tier weapons-manufacturing facilities, and a number of decommissioned military installations,” the letter said.

It added, “Yet, aside from damaging several buildings tied to Iran’s nuclear industry and a limited number of air-defense sites, they failed to achieve any of their declared objectives.”
