New Delhi (India) September 5: A police complaint was formally submitted by Union Minister of India and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan after a podcast conversation wherein Swatantra Bharadwaj remarked about the Jantar Mantar incident and claimed responsibility for violently beating a person. He said that without any immediate punishment, this would become a very wrong example in front of the entire country.
Paswan Files Police Complaint
“This incident is extremely serious. The way a person is openly admitting that he beat someone so severely that it could possibly have led to their death. To openly admit this on a podcast and even after that, if no action is taken against him, then I believe this will set a very wrong example before the country and the people. Understanding the seriousness of this matter, and because that person has misused my name along with the names of several politicians, I have also filed an official complaint against that person. At the same time, I have urged the Delhi Police that there should be a fair investigation into this matter,” Paswan said.
The comments of Chirag Paswan were prompted following a statement by Swatantra Bhardwaj (involved in a case wherein, alleged of hitting Nishu Azad's father during CJP's protest at Jantar Mantar) who mentioned the names of Chirag Paswan and Bharatiya Janata Party’s Kapil Mishra on the podcast.

Hindutva online social media influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj has been remanded to one day of police custody in connection to the case. He was sent to jail on Saturday. Mr. Bharadwaj appeared before the Patiala House Court of New Delhi in connection with the beating of Nishu Aazad’s student father Sanjay Kumar through video conferencing.
The arrest took place a day after the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) held a protest outside Parliament Street Police station of New Delhi calling for strict charges against the accuser. The accused in a viral clip is heard speaking of Nishu Azad’s father and saying he has "cracked open the skull" of the father during July at Jantar Mantar.
Lawyer Questions One-Day Custody
Advocate Rishav Ranjan, lawyer of the student protester, informed that the accused was presented before the judge through video conference. The lawyer was also taken aback seeing police taking only one day's custody in the very serious offense and has no details as to what charges have been added up by police.
He said, “His hearing was very surprising. We were waiting, but he was not produced before the court. We only received information that Swatantra was produced through video conferencing before the Special Judge at his residence. We were told that one day of police custody has been granted, but we do not have any other details at this point.”
