Supriya Sreeneth Denied Lok Sabha Tickets Amid Controversy with Kangana Ranaut

Congress spokesperson Supriya Sreeneth’s (46) decision to contest the Lok Sabha elections is believed to have been eclipsed. Bollywood actress and BJP candidate from Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh, Supriya Sreeneth has not been given a ticket after making vulgar remarks against Kangana Ranaut (37). The Congress on Wednesday announced the eighth list of candidates in which Supriya Sreeneth was not named. Supriya Srinet was going to contest from UP’s Maharajganj seat. Now the Congress has made Virendra Chaudhary a candidate in her place.

Background

It may be noted that Supriya Sreeneth contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Maharajganj seat. However, she had to face defeat. This time too her ticket was considered fixed, but before the ticket was announced, Supriya Sreeneth wrote a very vulgar post about Kangana Ranaut from her official X account. After which BJP made it an issue and linked it with ‘Mahila Samman’. Now it is being said that Congress did not give ticket to Supriya Sreeneth doing damage control.

Announcement of names on 4 seats of UP

Congress, which is contesting elections on 17 seats in alliance with SP, has announced candidates on 13 seats so far. The names of four candidates were also announced on Tuesday. Among them Congress has given ticket to Dolly Sharma from Ghaziabad.

Shivram Valmiki has been nominated from Bulandshahr. Former minister Nakul Dubey will contest from Sitapur and Congress MLA Virendra Chaudhary from Maharajganj. However, the Congress is yet to announce the names of candidates for the remaining 4 seats including Rae Bareli-Amethi seats.

Kangana V/S Supriya

BJP has made popular Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut its candidate from mandi lok sabha seat of Himachal Pradesh in the upcoming elections. However, senior Congress leader Supriya srinet has made objectionable posts about Kangana Ranaut on Twitter. After this the political tension has increased and several BJP leaders have read questions on the clarification of the Congress leader.

BJP leader Amit Malviya said that if your account is posting the same thing as posted by the parody account then it simply means that the administrators of both the accounts are the same.

Earlier, union minister Smriti Irani came out in the support of Kangana Ranaut containing the behavior of Congress party and Supriya srinet. She said that kangana’s debut into politics is not a reflection of who she is, but what she has done and capable of doing in the future.

Supriya Srinet gave a clarification

After the BJP leaders made it a big issue Supriya srineth came out in public and gave a clarification by posting a video. She said that many people have got access to her facebook and other social media handles, and someone might have posted the particular post unknowingly. She said that she has nothing to do with the post and she respects women. She added that a complaint is being filed against the user with the parody account who posted the controversial tweet.
