PM Modi arrives in Argentina; first bilateral visit in 57 years
In the first bilateral visit by an Indian prime minister in fifty-seven years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Argentina.

New Delhi (India) July 5: This is the first time India has sent a prime minister to Argentina at the bilateral level in fifty-seven years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Argentina on Friday evening for a two-day visit. In 2018, PM Modi made a previous trip to the nation to attend the G20 Summit.
Prime Minister Modi wrote, "Landed in Buenos Aires for a bilateral visit which will focus on augmenting relations with Argentina. I'm eager to be meeting President Javier Milei and holding detailed talks with him” on social media platform X.
He received a formal welcome when he arrived at the Ezeiza International Airport.
It is also the third destination on the Prime Minister's five-nation tour.
PM Modi will meet with President Javier Milei to discuss a number of topics aimed at strengthening the India-Argentina partnership, including trade, investment, renewable energy, mining, agriculture, defence, oil and gas.
Ministry of External Affairs official Randhir Jaiswal said, “Celebrating the enduring friendship between our nations. PM @narendramodi has landed in the vibrant city of Buenos Aires, Argentina on an Official Visit. He was accorded a ceremonial welcome on arrival at the airport. This is the first bilateral visit by an Indian PM to Argentina in 57 years, marking a new chapter in India-Argentina ties" in a post on X.
The prime minister said he was looking forward to talks with President Javier Milei, whom he had met last year, and that Argentina is a close collaborator in the G20 and a major economic partner in Latin America.
PM Modi said, “We will focus on advancing our mutually beneficial cooperation, including in the areas of agriculture, critical minerals, energy, trade, tourism, technology and investment” in a statement.
After a two-day visit to Trinidad and Tobago, where he signed six agreements to deepen bilateral ties, he arrived in Buenos Aires.
PM Modi will make a state visit after attending the 17th BRICS Summit in Brazil as part of his fourth leg of the trip. Modi will visit Namibia as the last stop on his tour.
