PM Modi warmly welcomes President Putin to New Delhi for historic 2-day India-Russia state visit

Upon arrival at Palam Airport in New Delhi for two days of state visit, President Putin received a welcome from PM Modi and his transportation. This is the second time Prime Minister Modi and president Putin have travelled together in a vehicle.

New Delhi (India) December 4: The Prime Minister met with the President as he exited the plane today, and again demonstrated the signs of respect and friendship between the President and the Prime Minister with handshakes and a friendly hug. The Prime Minister dropped the traditional protocol and personally welcomed President Putin. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also enlivened Russia’s president Vladimir Putin at his first dinner party in India.

The Prime Minister welcomed his "friend," President Vladimir Putin of Russia, to India, and also shared photographs of President Putin arriving in Delhi on social media.

Modi wrote, “Delighted to welcome my friend, President Putin to India. Looking forward to our interactions later this evening and tomorrow. India-Russia friendship is a time-tested one that has greatly benefitted our people," on social media platform X.

The visit by President Putin is the start of a two-day official visit, marking the first state visit of President Putin to India since the Russian–Ukrainian war broke out in February 2022. The two-day official visit includes attendance at the 23rd India–Russia Summit, at which both countries are expected to finalise many agreements, including agreements related to trade.

Extensive multi-tiered security ensures safe visit in New Delhi

To ensure maximum safety during President Putin's visit to New Delhi, a multi-tiered security setup has been created by the Delhi Police, federal agencies, and the Russian leader's personal protection team, including SWAT teams, Counter Terrorism units, Snipers, and Rapid Response Teams positioned strategically along Putin’s route.

In addition to this, the Delhi Police and Central Government have employed Advanced CCTV Monitoring Systems and Advanced Technology Surveillance in relation to all areas where President Putin will be visiting.

To accommodate President Putin, Traffic Law Enforcement Officers will restrict the use of vehicles and only allow limited foot traffic within specific zones. The Government will issue a Public Information Advisory in advance to alert the public about any potential disruptions caused by the arrival of President Putin.

Russia House hosts exhibition highlighting 25 years of Indo-Russian defense cooperation

In preparation for his Thursday visit, the Russian House in New Delhi hosted an extensive photo exhibition commemorating the 25th Anniversary of both Russia's Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation as well as the official state arm's exporter, Rosoboronexport, by displaying photos featuring Russian President Vladimir Putin with Indian Prime Ministers from the last 25 years, including PM Modi, as well as sample images of the various armament systems being cooperatively produced by Russia and India.

In addition to those items displayed, models of the various weapons systems manufactured by India and Russia include the Indigenous BrahMos Missiles, the Russian-produced S-400 Anti-Aircraft System and the Fifth Generation Stealth Fighter Jet designated as the Su-57E.
