25th September 2023,Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a speech at the ‘Karyakarta Mahakumbh’ in Bhopal, launched a scathing attack on the Congress party. He accused them of presiding over years of misrule and corruption in Madhya Pradesh before the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took power in the state. In this article, we will delve into the key points of PM Modi’s address and the implications for the upcoming elections in Madhya Pradesh.

The Legacy of Congress Rule

PM Modi began his address by highlighting the historical context of Congress rule in Madhya Pradesh. He pointed out that the Congress had been in power for a significant period after Independence, and during their tenure, they had transformed a prosperous state into a ‘Bimaru’ one. The term ‘Bimaru’ is used to describe states that lag in terms of development parameters, including economic growth, healthcare, and education. PM Modi asserted that the youth of the state had not forgotten the deplorable law and order conditions prevalent during the Congress rule.

BJP’s 20-Year Stint

The Prime Minister acknowledged that the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh had completed almost two decades in power. He emphasized that for the first-time voters who had grown up under BJP rule, this continuity was a fortunate circumstance. He strategically used this fact to dissuade first-time voters from considering the Congress as a viable alternative, emphasizing that they hadn’t experienced the alleged bad governance of the Congress in Madhya Pradesh.

The Importance of ‘Karyakarta Mahakumbh’

PM Modi’s address at the ‘Karyakarta Mahakumbh’ marked the culmination of mass-contact programs held across Madhya Pradesh by the BJP. These programs were organized as part of the party’s preparations for the upcoming assembly polls. The Prime Minister stressed that Madhya Pradesh held a special place in the BJP’s ideology and its vision for development, making it a central spot for their political activities.

Unifying ‘Naari Shakti’

In his speech, PM Modi also addressed the issue of women’s empowerment. He cautioned against the divisive politics of the Congress and its allies, emphasizing the need for unity among women. He accused the opposition parties of half-heartedly supporting the Women’s Reservation Bill and predicted that they would attempt to divide ‘Naari Shakti’ by spreading rumors and misinformation. This message was particularly relevant as women’s votes play a crucial role in Indian elections.

A Veiled Jibe at Rahul Gandhi

While not naming Rahul Gandhi directly, PM Modi took a veiled dig at the Congress leader. He criticized Congress leaders born with silver spoons for using agricultural land as picnic spots and exploiting the struggles of the poor for photo opportunities. This reference was likely aimed at Rahul Gandhi’s recent interactions with laborers and workers, which he has been sharing on social media platforms.

Prime Minister Modi’s fiery speech in Bhopal not only targeted the Congress party but also aimed to galvanize BJP workers and supporters in Madhya Pradesh ahead of the upcoming elections. His accusations of misrule and corruption during Congress’s tenure, coupled with his emphasis on the BJP’s 20-year legacy, underscored the central themes of his address. Furthermore, his call for unity among women and the veiled jibe at Rahul Gandhi added layers to his political message. As the elections draw closer, it remains to be seen how these statements will impact the political landscape in Madhya Pradesh.
