New Delhi[India] December 08: A special debate and discussion regarding "Vande Mataram" started in the Indian Parliament today. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took part in the Vande Mataram debate in the Lok Sabha. She spoke in a steady voice and said there was no need to discuss the national song again and again. She said the government wanted this debate for political reasons. She also said it was being used to target freedom fighters. She told the House that Vande Mataram was always respected by Congress. Priyanka Gandhi also commented on PM Modi’s speech. She said the Prime Minister often spoke well but did not share complete historical details. She asked why he did not mention that Tagore sang Vande Mataram in a Congress session. She asked if the ruling party was afraid to admit this fact. She also asked why leaders in power were comparing themselves to great personalities like Mahatma Gandhi and Dr Ambedkar. She said speaking against the national song was like insulting the entire freedom struggle. Her sharp questions led to loud reactions across the House.
