There was a time when Indian batting line up was stocked up with legendary batters from top to bottom. There was always someone who would hold the line up even after a collapse. And to get into the Indian team, one has to go through rigorous amount of hardwork and have to keep lots of patience. Only after piling up runs and runs on the national level, one would get the chance to play for the country. But after the introduction of T20 cricket and IPL, players had lost the patience and they now don’t feel that burden of playing for their country. Today players like to come out and express themselves, they don’t have any barrier on themselves while earlier they used to be always insecure about their place in the team. In earlier times, playing for the country was the only means of survival for a cricket player but now with IPL, they know that even while not playing for the country, they are already earning millions. They are not frightened of playing a loose shot and get out because now they already have the fame and money that earlier people use to get by playing for their country for a long time. This had also resulted in people getting easily into the national team without much difficulty.
With lots of experimentation, there had been a lot of chop and stick for the team. There is always a new player in the line up. If a player plays only a single magical innings, he’s taken into contention for the national team and then we wait for an already playing player to fail and then we would replace him. This went to that extent that there was a time when people started talking about replacing Virat Kohli, forgetting all about his career. This had also resulted in Indian Team moving away from Pujara and Rahane, only because we saw a glimpse of talent in other batters. This does harm to both set of batters. While the old players doesn’t get that long rope that they do deserve and these new set of players doesn’t ripe well.
That’s why in today’s time, even with so much time, we aren’t able to post huge scores at the total, because first of all, the batsmen are not ripened well and secondly doesn’t feel the burden of playing for the country.
Hopefully the Indian team would look into these matters and would go into right path in terms of playing test match.
