11 August 2023, Mumbai: Beta users can now add multiple accounts and switch seamlessly within the app.WhatsApp, the messaging platform owned by Meta, has unveiled a new multi-account feature for its Android beta users. This update allows beta testers to add additional accounts to their WhatsApp app, providing a convenient solution for managing various conversations and chats.

New account option

Users can easily create a new account by selecting the arrow icon adjacent to the QR code button within the app. This feature enables them to seamlessly switch between different accounts without the need for multiple devices or additional applications. The multi-account feature ensures that private chats, work discussions, and other conversations are organized within a single application.

Personal and Professional conversation

Moreover, users can navigate between their accounts while keeping chats and notifications distinct and separate. This innovative feature offers greater flexibility and convenience to individuals who frequently juggle between personal and professional conversations.

Available on beta

Currently available to a subset of beta testers who have updated their WhatsApp beta for Android, the multi-account feature is set to roll out to a wider audience over the following weeks, as reported by WABetaInfo. In a recent development, WhatsApp has been exploring a passkey feature for Android beta that aims to enhance account verification. This passkey, a brief sequence of characters, would contribute to verifying users’ identities, enhancing security measures on the platform.

Link with Phone number

WhatsApp has been diligently working to introduce new safety tools on its Android beta version. In a bid to provide users with more control over their interactions, the platform has previously introduced features like ‘link with phone number,’ which enables users to connect their WhatsApp accounts to WhatsApp Web using their phone numbers.

Video quality feature

Earlier this year, the platform unveiled the ability to send high-quality videos on Android beta, allowing users to share videos with enhanced dimensions. While the feature preserves the overall quality of videos, a minor degree of compression is applied to ensure smooth sharing.

As WhatsApp continues to innovate and enhance its offerings, the introduction of the multi-account feature underscores its commitment to delivering a seamless and versatile messaging experience for users across the Android platform.
