Match Summary:

KKR opted to bowl after winning the toss, after which LSG managed to score only 161 at the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs on a relatively flat track. Australian pacer Mitchell Starc found his rhythm in the match and got three wickets, including that of Nicholas Pooran. Captain KL was the top scorer of the inning with 39 runs. While for KKR, Philip Salt alone made the chase easy and scored fast 89 in just 47 balls, sealing the game.

Match Stats:

Philip Salt was awarded the Man of the Match award for his quick-fire 89 in 47 balls. He also made a match-winning partnership with Captain Iyer, who anchored the innings. No impact was seen from the LSG squad, as no batsman was able to stand long and post a respectable total, nor were their bowlers able to pick up wickets after Narine and Raghuvanshi within the powerplay. KKR also managed to boost their net run rate as they chased the target with 26 balls remaining.

After the Sunday double header, the points table showed some movement, with KKR maintaining their second spot with a healthy run rate of +1.688. CSK moved to the 3rd spot with a good run rate after a 20-run win. While LSG moved down to the 5th spot, getting equal wins and losses in 6 matches, MI slipped down to the 8th spot but has an average run rate. So if they could get back to their winning track, it would be easy for them to qualify for the playoffs. RR is topping the table with 10 points and needs a couple of more wins to qualify for the playoffs.

Monday, i.e., April 15, 2024, will be the Southern Derby at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, where they will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 30th match of the tournament. SRH will be confident after winning their previous matches against CSK and PBKS. While the RCB side is a bit brittle, they have managed to win only one match in the tournament and are currently at the bottom of the table. SRH will look to win to improve their chance of qualification, while RCB will be thinking about regaining momentum and getting back on track.
