New Delhi (India) October 1: Abhishek Sharma's brilliant batting in the Asia Cup 2025 has set a global record in the ICC T20I rankings. He achieved the highest rating ever for a hitter in Twenty20 Internationals.

Dominant Asia Cup Batting

Abhishek Sharma maintained his top position in the shortest format. He scored 314 runs in seven tournament matches. He had an average of nearly 45 and a strike rate of 200. His new strategy mostly depends on offensive style. He has performed remarkably consistently throughout the competition.

Sharma's Asia Cup record-breaking performance has raised the bar for T20I batsmen. His 931 rating points are now the highest in the format. It highlights his rise to popularity in India's T20 system. This also confirms his status as one of the best in international cricket.

Sharma Tops Global Rankings with Unmatched Record

At the moment, the 25-year-old leads the ICC T20I batting rankings with 926 rating points. He overtakes Dawid Malan of England. He held the record with the highest grade of 919 points.

The left-hander was named the Asia Cup's player of the tournament. This is due to his spectacular form. It allowed him to score at a strike rate of more than 200. He also outperformed teammates Virat Kohli (909), and Suryakumar Yadav (912).

How Other Indian Players Performed

It is interesting that Tilak Varma has not jumped to second position even though he played a knock that won the match in the final. According to the most recent rankings, he is only 25 points behind Phil Salt of England. He is in second place.

Suryakumar Yadav is the captain of India. He had a disappointing Asia Cup batting campaign. He scored just 72 runs at an average of about 14 per six innings. Suryakumar now has 698 rating points. He dropped two spots to eighth place.

Big Changes in Other Rankings

Right-hander Pathum Nissanka of Sri Lanka moves up two spots to fifth place. This is a new career-high rating after scoring 261 runs at the Asia Cup. Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan moves up 11 spots to 13th place and teammate Kusal Perera moves up two spaces to ninth.

Varun Chakravarthy is still the best bowler in T20I cricket. Indian player Hardik Pandya was overtaken as the number one player in the all-rounder rankings. He lost against Saim Ayub. Although the Pakistani player did well with the ball throughout this event, his batting performance was awful. Ayub only managed to score 37 runs overall. He faced four ducks in seven innings.
