Adv. Nizam A. Khan Calls for Interfaith Harmony at Universal Peace Conference in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, August 29, 2025 – The city of Hyderabad witnessed an inspiring gathering of faith leaders, peace advocates, and community representatives at the Universal Peace Conference, hosted by Jagadguru Aashram (Khanqah-e-Sarwar-e-Aalam) in collaboration with HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light), IPYG (International Peace Youth Group), and IWPG (International Women’s Peace Group).
The conference, held at AK Palace, Pasha Colony, Alkapur Main Road, Hyderabad, brought together delegates from different religions and backgrounds to exchange ideas and foster a vision of global peace and unity. The central theme of the event was “Fostering Global Peace.”
Adv. Nizam A. Khan’s Keynote Lecture
One of the most thought-provoking sessions of the conference was delivered by Advocate Nizam A. Khan, who spoke on the topic “The Role of the Community in Fostering Social Integration in Hyderabad.” His lecture highlighted the pressing need for communities to set aside divisions and focus on building bridges of understanding.
Addressing the audience, Adv. Nizam emphasized that social harmony in Hyderabad, known historically as the “city of unity in diversity,” can only be strengthened when people from different faiths engage in dialogue based on respect and shared values.
“Different communities should talk about the similarities in their respected religions and not differences,” he said, drawing attention to the fact that all faiths preach peace, compassion, and respect for others.
Quoting from the Holy Quran, Surah Anam 6:108, he reminded participants of the principle of religious tolerance:
“Do not insult the gods of other religions.”
He explained that this verse reflects Islam’s deep commitment to peaceful coexistence and mutual respect, which remains a cornerstone for social integration in multi-religious societies like Hyderabad.
Call for Responsible Dialogue and Youth Engagement
Adv. Nizam also urged participants to avoid unnecessary political debates, which often create rifts among communities. Instead, he called for discussions rooted in shared values, morality, and service to humanity.
Placing special emphasis on the younger generation, he said, “The youth must work on controlling anger and emotional outbursts. Channelling energy towards positive community building will strengthen not just families, but society as a whole.”
He highlighted that today’s youth, if guided properly, can become torchbearers of peace, unity, and social justice. Anger management, patience, and mutual understanding, according to him, are vital skills needed in the modern age to avoid conflicts.
Vision for Social Integration
Adv. Nizam underlined that social integration is not just a theoretical idea but a practical responsibility of every citizen. He stressed that being helpful, humble, and generous towards one another can heal divides and create a society where all communities feel respected and valued.
“By discussing similarities and being generous and kind to each other, communities can overcome hatred and prejudice. This is how true social integration is built in society,” he remarked.
Conference Purpose and Impact
The Universal Peace Conference served as a unifying platform where delegates from multiple religions and cultural backgrounds came forward to share perspectives on peacebuilding. The organizers emphasized that the purpose of the conference was to deliver a message of peace and love to a restless world and to unite humanity beyond borders and beliefs.
Participants expressed that Hyderabad, with its centuries-old tradition of communal harmony, has the potential to be a model city for interfaith coexistence and integration.
Conclusion
The conference concluded with renewed calls for dialogue, empathy, and cooperation across communities. Speakers, including Adv. Nizam A. Khan, reiterated that peace and unity must begin at the local community level before it can extend to the world.
The event ended with an appeal for continuous interfaith dialogue, mutual respect, and collaborative social action, marking Hyderabad as a city committed to the ideals of peace and brotherhood.
