Amid rising tensions, Saudi Minister pays a surprise visit to India
Adel Al-Jubeir, Saudi Arabia's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, travels to India with an emphasis on efforts to combat terrorism after the Operation Sindoor.

New Delhi(India) May 8: Hours after Iran's foreign minister arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday, Saudi Arabia's foreign minister Adel al-Jubeir met with S Jaishankar, the external affairs minister.
In the middle of increased tensions between India and Pakistan after the military strikes in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, Saudi Arabia's minister of state for foreign affairs, Adel al-Jubeir, arrived unannounced in New Delhi on Thursday and met with Dr S Jaishankar.
Saudi Arabia was among the countries whose officials were kept updated by Indian officials after the country briefed many foreign officials on its investigation into the Pahalgam attack. After India's guarantee of action in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror assault, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also held a conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan.
After meeting the Saudi Minister, S Jaishankar posted on social media platform X that, “A good meeting with @AdelAljubeir, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia this morning.”
The Saudi minister and Jaishankar met just hours after Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the foreign minister of Iran, arrived in New Delhi late on Wednesday to co-chair a bilateral joint commission meeting with Jaishankar.
In New Delhi, Araghchi caused controversy when he recently offered to negotiate between India and Pakistan, calling both nations as Iran's "foremost priority" and brotherly neighbours.
He had said in a social media post that “Tehran stands ready to use its good offices in Islamabad and New Delhi to forge greater understanding at this difficult time”.
Araghchi and Jaishankar will soon have detailed discussions. In the afternoon, he will also meet with President Droupadi Murmu.
Indian soldiers launched missile strikes on nine terror sites early on Wednesday in retaliation of the Pahalgam terror attack, including the Lashkar-e-Taiba camp in Muridke and the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror group's stronghold of Bahawalpur.
