PM Modi visits the Adampur Air Base; says India is eternally grateful

New Delhi (India) May 13: Days after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Punjab's Adampur air base on Tuesday and met with soldiers.

On the intervening night of May 9 and 10, after India's "Operation Sindoor," Pakistan attempted to attack several air force facilities, including Adampur. India's S-400 air defense system near Adampur was destroyed by Pakistan's hypersonic missiles fired from JF-17 fighter planes, a claim that Indian officials denied.

PM Modi posted that"Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation," on social media platform X.

At 7 a.m. today, PM Modi traveled from Delhi's Palam Air Base for Adampur. He was joined by Air Force Chief Marshal A P Singh.

He was with the airmen for nearly an hour. The Air Force's MiG 29 fighter jets are stationed at Adampur Air Base.

After Pakistan's allegations that it had damaged the Adampur Air site during its midnight attacks, Prime Minister Modi's visit to the site is significant.

India, however, denied reports of site damage. Also, satellite photos proved that Pakistan's drone and missile attacks have not seriously damaged any Indian Air Force (IAF) bases.

PM Modi visited the Adampur air base the day after he spoke to the nation and appreciated the Indian military for their courage in achieving the goals of Operation Sindoor, in which India killed about 100 terrorists by attacking nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

“Operation Sindoor is now India’s established policy in the fight against terrorism, marking a decisive shift in India’s strategic approach."

“The world saw how their drones and missiles were blown away in front of our strong air defence system. Pakistan prepared for a border attack, but we attacked them on the chest. Our missiles and drones damaged the Pakistan air bases it was so proud of,” PM Modi said.
