Drone Scare in Samba: Indian Army Responds with Strength
Pakistani drones intercepted over Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district

Samba (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 13: On Monday evening, residents of Samba district in Jammu and Kashmir were taken by surprise. Red lights flashed across the sky and loud blasts echoed in the dark. Families rushed out of their homes in fear, only to realise something serious was happening in the skies above. These red streaks were not ordinary lights—they were part of India’s air defence action to tackle suspected drones from Pakistan.
Indian Army keeps control
Soon after the reports of drones near the International Border, the Indian Army confirmed that air defence systems were activated. The drones were detected and neutralised before they could cause harm. The entire area had a temporary blackout for safety. But the army’s response was quick and firm. No lives were lost, and the situation was brought under control. People were scared, but the presence of our soldiers gave everyone some peace of mind.
DGMOs of India and Pakistan speak
While the skies calmed down, the military leaders of both countries were in contact again. India’s DGMO, Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, and Pakistan’s DGMO held a conversation. They agreed to avoid fighting and reduce troops near the border. Sadly, even after agreeing on peace, Pakistan again broke the promise. There were more intrusions and firing from their side. Still, India responded strongly but with maturity, showing our wish to maintain peace with power.
Operation Sindoor and the recent attacks
Earlier in May, India launched Operation Sindoor after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam claimed 26 lives. In response, Indian forces struck nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. Pakistan then used hundreds of drones to attack Indian military bases. Our defence forces stopped most of these. Later, Pakistan’s DGMO reached out again, asking for a ceasefire. This led to some calm, but with recent drone intrusions, it shows how fragile peace can be.
