18th May 2023, Mumbai: In front of family and friends, actor Parineeti Chopra and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lawmaker Raghav Chadha got engaged on Saturday at Delhi’s Kapurthala House. In white ethnic attire, the couple matched for the romantic ceremony. Parineeti has since posted more images from their wedding day along with a touching essay about their private ceremony, which was held in accordance with Sikh traditions.
In the candid photos that provided a glimpse into the couple’s customary engagement ceremony, Parineeti had her hair covered with a lace scarf. Parineeti’s face was hidden in the first image she shared as she joined her hands and greeted the religious official overseeing the wedding. As he approached him with his hands folded, Raghav grinned broadly. In accordance with Sikh practise, his hair was also covered during the ceremony.
The next pictures were of the delighted couple at their engagement celebration, which was held in a large hall with white walls and windows made of green, yellow, and blue glass. In one of the photos, Parineeti’s father Pawan Chopra, who was seated behind the newlyweds, could be seen sobbing in the background. In a photograph, Parineeti and Raghav, who were seated in front of numerous family members, friends, and other visitors, were shown praying with their hands folded; in another, Parineeti was seen praying with her eyes closed.
Sharing the pictures, Parineeti wrote in her caption, “Felt surreal to be blessed by the Jathedar of the Akal Takht Sahib, Singh Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh Ji. His sacred presence at our engagement meant everything to us (folded hands emoji).” The actor’s brother Shivang Chopra commented, ‘A casual papa tearing up in the background is the highlight.”

The AAP politician donned an achkan by Delhi-based designer and his uncle, Pawan Sachdev, while the actor wore a white kurta and matching dupatta that were both created by Manish Malhotra. Parineeti and Raghav made their first public appearance as a newly engaged couple shortly after stepping out to welcome the media and pose for pictures. The engagement was attended by Parineeti’s cousin, actor Priyanka Chopra, who had just arrived in Delhi on Saturday morning. She cheerfully posed for the photographers and uploaded a number of pictures from the event to Instagram.
