20th June 2023, Mumbai: Director Laxman Utekar’s Zara Hatke Zara Bachke ventures into the realm of diminishing box office numbers on June 19, diverging from its previously stable performance. While the film had been consistently pocketing around ₹2 crore per day, it mustered only ₹1 crore on its 18th day. The release of Adipurush in theaters seems to have cast its influence on the performance of this Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan-led endeavor. Zara Hatke Zara Bachke spins a tale around a couple’s pursuit of personal space and independence by leveraging the Indian Government’s flagship initiative, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), to procure a flat.
Zara Hatke Zara Bachke graced the silver screen on June 2, commencing its cinematic voyage with an approximate box office collection of ₹5.25 crore on its opening day. The film elicited a mixed response from the audience. However, it has now experienced a decline in its domestic box office figures, largely due to the release of Adipurush. On June 19, the film is estimated to have garnered approximately ₹1 crore nett domestically, culminating in a total collection of around ₹69.31 crore in India. On the same day, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke reported an overall 24% occupancy rate for its Hindi screenings. Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan’s on-screen chemistry has received accolades from viewers who have delved into the film. The movie’s melodies have also struck a chord with the audience. Nestled in the enchanting town of Indore, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke weaves the tale of two college sweethearts, Kapil (portrayed by Vicky Kaushal) and Saumya (portrayed by Sara Ali Khan), who share a profound love for each other.
Following their marriage, the couple grapples with incessant intrusions from relatives while seeking moments of intimacy and seclusion. To escape this predicament, Kapil and Saumya embark on a mission to secure a flat through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). However, they must navigate the unconventional path of obtaining a divorce to qualify.
