Gujarat Police Book 14 People Over Anti-Army Social Media Posts After Op Sindoor

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], May 12: In Gujarat, the police have taken action against 14 people from 12 districts for sharing social media posts that could hurt the spirit of our Indian Army. These posts came soon after Operation Sindoor, a special mission by India in response to a terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir. The police say these posts were seen as harmful and could divide people or upset national unity. The state’s message is clear—freedom of speech must not cross the line of respect for our armed forces.

Social Media Monitoring Now in Full Force

Orders from Top Officials: After Operation Sindoor on May 7, Gujarat’s Home Department began keeping a close eye on social media. Minister Harsh Sanghavi directed the Intelligence Wing and a special team to scan online posts. Police chief Vikas Sahay gave strict orders to take legal action against anyone trying to spread wrong ideas or reduce the army’s morale. The aim was not to silence voices, but to stop wrong information that could affect national security. People were warned not to misuse platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, or Instagram.

Why Operation Sindoor Triggered Strong Reactions

Operation Sindoor was carried out after 26 Indians lost their lives in a deadly terror strike in Pahalgam on April 22. In response, India took strong action and targeted nine terror bases in Pakistan. While many citizens supported this bold move, a few people shared messages online that went against the mission. These posts were seen as giving a wrong message to the world and hurting the feelings of the families of brave soldiers. Gujarat police took action not just for law, but for the honour of every soldier.

Districts Across Gujarat Take Charge

FIRs (First Information Reports) were filed in places like Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Junagadh, and even smaller districts like Patan and Godhra. Each case was checked properly before action. Police said that such posts were "hostile to national interest" and dangerous during times of military alert. This shows that no matter the place, the law will reach those who disrespect the country. Citizens have been reminded to post responsibly and not let emotions turn into harmful words online.

Freedom With Responsibility Is the Need of the Hour

Gujarat’s action is not against free speech but against hate and harm. India is a country where everyone can share thoughts, but that doesn’t mean we can insult the people who protect us. Even students in school are being told today to be careful while using social media. This case teaches all of us that with great freedom comes great responsibility. Respecting our soldiers, especially during sensitive times like after Operation Sindoor, is the least we can do as proud Indians.
