Hakimi, a husky who helps visitors by carrying their bags, became an unexpected star attraction at an a hotel in Lijiang, Yunnan province, China. As to the South China Morning Post, the dog has captured the attention of social media users and greatly increased business for the homestay, bringing in up to 200,000 yuan (more than 23.49 lakh INR) in online revenue in just three days.

Xu, the owner of Hakimi, disclosed that the idea began as an experiment. “When Hakimi came to our home, it was very energetic. Last April, when I took it out to play, I had the idea of having it try pulling a trolley. To my surprise, it learnt right away,” he told Cover News. The dog took up the duty right away and even got better with practice, even though there was no official training.

The dog helps visitors who ask for help along a 200-meter walk from Lijiang Old Town's South Gate to the homestay. "It typically does this three to six times a day, and we only take it out when guests ask for it," Xu stated. Currently, Hakimi's service accounts for about 80% of the homestay's guests.

Viral sensation

Videos of the Husky carrying bags were initially posted by Xu for fun, but they quickly gained millions of views. Every video gets one to ten million views. For the homestay, Hakimi has turned into a "little fortune bringer," Xu continued.

The internet has been impressed by the dog's passion and intelligence. "The husky's ancestors must have been something special to produce such a talented dog," a user wrote. "It even looks back at the luggage when it turns a corner, using inertia to position itself," another person observed. It's really clever!
