Indigo flight makes an emergency landing in Nagpur after receiving a bomb threat

New Delhi (India) June 17: After receiving a bomb threat, an IndiGo flight travelling from Kochi to Delhi had to make an emergency landing in Nagpur on Tuesday morning.

A statement from CIAL claims that the threat was sent to its official email address in reference to the IndiGo flight. The flight had 157 passengers and six crew members on board when it left Muscat for Delhi at 9.31 a.m.

The Kochi airport's Bomb Threat Assessment Committee met right away and determined that the threat was "specific." The flight made an emergency landing at Nagpur airport after the information was quickly forwarded to the appropriate authorities.

An official statement said, "The information was promptly communicated to relevant authorities, following which the flight made an emergency landing at Nagpur airport and is currently undergoing inspection."

According to the information on Flight Radar, the flight was supposed to take off at 9:20 am but it was delayed by 11 minutes and left Kochi airport at 9:31 am.

According to deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Lohit Matani after the emergency landing, all passengers were safely able to get off. The airport security and bomb disposal teams quickly began an in depth investigation.

As the investigation proceeds, DCP Matani confirmed that the precautions are being strictly followed and that "so far, nothing suspicious has been found." The airport in Nagpur is now undergoing inspection.

The plane carrying more than 157 passengers and six crew members is expected to fly to Delhi after passing security checks.

This comes after a similar incident on June 13, when Air India flight AI 379, travelling from Phuket to Delhi, was threatened with a bomb while in midair. According to airport officials, the plane, which had taken off at 9:30 AM local time, made an emergency landing in Phuket as a precaution.
