Just prior to the New Hampshire primary, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential contest and endorsed his fierce opponent, former US President Donald Trump, according to the Associated Press. In the upbeat, straight-to-camera video, DeSantis stated, “It’s clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance.”

He also signed a pledge to support the Republican nominee and said, “I will honor that pledge”.

“He has my endorsement because we can’t go back to the old Republican guard of yesteryear, a repackaged form of warmed-over corporatism that Nikki Haley represents,” DeSantis added. With the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, Donald Trump and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley are the only two significant contenders left in the presidential contest.

According to AP sources, DeSantis had a significant advantage going into the 2024 presidential race when it came to challenging Trump, and early primary polls indicated that he was well-positioned to do so.

Together with his supporters, he and his political empire grew to be worth well over $130 million. He also claimed a strong legislative record on matters that were significant to many conservatives, such as abortion and the teaching of racial and gender issues in schools.

Total Presidential Immunity according to Donald Trump

According to previous statements made by the former US President, his claim of “total” presidential immunity from criminal prosecution should be true even in situations where his actions “cross the line.” While fighting 91 criminal accusations in four separate cases, including reportedly seeking to overturn his 2020 election loss and concealing top-secret papers at his golf courses, he is running for president in November. On the grounds of “presidential immunity,” Trump asserted that he should not be held accountable for actions he performed while serving as president of the United States.

“A president of the United States must have full immunity, without which it would be impossible for him/her to properly function. Any mistake, even if well intended, would be met with almost certain indictment by the opposing party at term end,” he wrote.

“Even events that ‘cross the line’ must fall under total immunity,” Trump said, asserting that otherwise there will be “years of trauma trying to determine good from bad.”

Trump declares that the title “DeSanctimonious” is “officially retired.”

The former president was asked if he will continue to refer to the Florida governor as “DeSanctimonious” during his campaign tour. “You said, ‘Will I be using the name Ron DeSanctimonious.’ I said that name is officially retired,” Trump told the crowd in New Hampshire, as shown in a video shared by Trump aide Margo Martin on X (formerly Twitter). “You said, ‘Will I be using the name Ron DeSanctimonious.’ I said that name is officially retired,” Trump told the crowd in New Hampshire, as shown in a video shared by Trump aide Margo Martin on X (formerly Twitter).
