Iran's Top Ministers Reportedly Killed
An Israeli military official said that the Iranian senior figures who were "eliminated" in the airstrikes on Saturday were ones who were the top officials of the Islamic republic.
“Three sites where gatherings of the Iranian terror regime were taking place were struck simultaneously, and several senior figures essential to the management of the campaign and the regime's governance were eliminated," the Israeli military official said.
Strikes Near Khamenei's Offices
The first few strikes looked like they hit the areas around the offices of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and Iranian media said that the strikes were all over the country. Smoke was seen rising from the capital.
As part of the campaign that reportedly targeted top military and political figures, explosions have been reported in multiple Iranian cities including the capital Tehran .
The strikes marked an astonishing new chapter of US involvement in Iran and it was the second time in the past eight months that the Trump administration engaged militarily with Iran.
IDF Targets Iran Missile Launchers
The Israeli military stated that on Saturday, it initiated a fresh round of air strikes aimed at Iran's missile launchers and aerial defence systems situated in the central region of the country.
“The IDF has begun an additional wave of strikes targeting the Iranian terror regime's missile launchers and aerial defense systems in central Iran," the military said.
India Urges Restraint, Issues Alerts for Nationals
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has expressed its concerns about the West Asia situation.
“We urge all sides to exercise restraint, avoid escalation, and prioritise the safety of civilians. Dialogue and diplomacy should be pursued to de-escalate tensions and address underlying issues. Sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states must be respected,” the Ministry said.
“Our Missions in the region are in touch with Indian nationals and have issued appropriate advisories asking them to remain vigilant, stay in contact with the Missions, and follow local security guidance,” it added.
