This landmark infrastructure project, spanning 2.5 kilometres, holds immense significance for locals and pilgrims visiting the revered Dwarkadhish Temple.

Here’s what we know about this transformative project: Enhancing Regional Connectivity:

The Sudarshan Setu is expected to significantly enhance connectivity in the region, facilitating smoother transportation between the Okha mainland and Beyt Dwarka island. This improvement in accessibility will benefit residents and pilgrims alike, fostering economic growth and cultural exchange.

India’s Longest Cable-Stayed Bridge:

As India’s longest cable-stayed bridge, the Sudarshan Setu showcases the nation’s engineering prowess and commitment to advancing infrastructure development. Its innovative design incorporates solar panels on the upper portions of the footpath, generating one megawatt of electricity and promoting sustainability.

Spacious and Well-Equipped:

Featuring four lanes and 2.50-metre-wide footpaths on each side, the bridge prioritises safety and convenience for pedestrians and commuters. The ample width of the footpaths allows for leisurely strolls and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Testament to Progress:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Sudarshan Setu in October 2017, underscoring the government’s dedication to fostering progress and development across the nation. With a total cost of ₹978 crore, this project represents a significant investment in bolstering infrastructure and connectivity.

Cultural Heritage and Spiritual Significance:

Adorned with verses from the Bhagavad Gita and images of Lord Krishna on both sides, the footpath of the Sudarshan Setu pays homage to the rich cultural heritage and spiritual significance of the region. It serves as a testament to India’s diverse cultural tapestry and deep-rooted spiritual traditions.

Tourism and Economic Impact:

Beyond its practical function, the Okha-Beyt Dwarka Signature Bridge is poised to become a tourist attraction, drawing visitors eager to witness its architectural marvel and explore the surrounding areas. This influx of tourists is expected to boost local economies and create new opportunities for growth and development.
