He made these remarks during the inaugural session of the Pakistan Minerals Summit, which aimed to attract foreign investment to the cash-strapped nation.

Calls for Serious Dialogue with India

In an apparent reference to India, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized that Pakistan is ready to talk with everyone, including its neighbor, provided that serious matters are discussed at the table. He stressed that war is no longer an option, highlighting the need for peaceful and meaningful discussions to address bilateral issues.

Strained India-Pakistan Relations

The statement comes amidst ongoing tension between India and Pakistan over various issues, including cross-border terrorism and the Kashmir dispute. India has firmly maintained that Jammu and Kashmir will always remain an integral part of the country.

Pakistan’s Nuclear Capability for Defense

Sharif clarified that Pakistan’s nuclear capability is solely for defensive purposes and not for aggression. He highlighted the grave consequences of a nuclear conflict and urged India to realize the risks associated with such a scenario.

Addressing Unresolved Issues for Normalized Relations

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of resolving outstanding issues between the two countries to pave the way for normalized relations. He stated that both nations must understand and address each other’s serious concerns through peaceful discussions, removing the existing “abnormalities.”

Invitation for Foreign Investment in Minerals Sector

Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Musadik Malik, invited foreign investors to invest in Pakistan’s minerals and mining sector. He revealed that the country possesses estimated mineral reserves of USD 6 trillion, including gold, copper, coal, and other precious metals. The aim is to boost exports and employment in the mineral sector significantly in the coming years.

Army Chief’s Presence at the Summit

Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir attended the Pakistan Minerals Summit along with several national and foreign dignitaries, signifying the importance of the event and its potential impact on the country’s economy and security.
