Gandhi Speaks on Dalit Struggles for equality with Ex-UGC Chief Sukhdeo Thorat

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] March 21: Rahul Gandhi, who is the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, has stated again that he wants the caste poll. He says it will help prove the "truth of inequality and prejudice."
Gandhi said these things in an X post and a video of him meeting with Sukhdeo Thorat, who used to be the president of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

"I had an in-depth conversation with Prof Thorat, a well-known academics, economist, expert on Dalit problems and member of the study committee on caste survey in Telangana, on the Mahad Satyagraha and the ongoing battle of Dalits for access to management, education, bureaucracy and resources," Gandhi claimed Thursday.
"Ambedkar lead a direct fight against prejudice based on caste through the Mahad Satyagraha on March 20, 1927," the Congress MP from Raebareli said.
There was more at risk than just the right to water. There was also a fight for respect and fairness. He said, "This fight for 'rightful share' began 98 years ago and is still going on."
There are people who are against the caste census because they don't want the truth about bias and prejudice to come to light. Babasaheb's dream is still not achieved. "We will fight it with all our might," the Congress leader declared. "His fight is not just for the past; it is also for today."
Rahul Gandhi is struck back by the BJP: The BJP responded to what Rahul Gandhi said
"Rahul Gandhi's shocking speech about merit shows how nepotistic and Loyal the Congress party is." "The family Congress has always insulted and disrespected good leaders from the SC, ST, and OBC communities who rose through the ranks of public life through hard work and commitment," BJP leader CR Kesavan told PTI.
He also answered, "The Congress party has always had a 'Dalit virodhi' mindset, and the Congress party always attacks honour."
