Shashi Tharoor appreciates PM Modi and calls him “a prime asset for India”

New Delhi (India) June 23: In a public display of admiration, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor who has just returned from a five-nation outreach program for India's Operation Sindoor on Pakistan, showered Prime Minister Narendra Modi with praise. Tharoor referred to PM Modi as a "prime asset for India" because of his "energy, dynamism, and willingness" in an article.

He wrote, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi's energy, dynamism and willingness to engage remains a prime asset for India on the global stage, but deserves greater backing."

Later, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) official account shared the article. The post was captioned as "Lok Sabha MP and former Union Minister Dr Shashi Tharoor writes - Lessons from Operation Sindoor's global outreach."

Tharoor described Operation Sindoor as "a moment of national resolve" when leading the Indian delegation to the US, Panama, Guyana, Colombia, and Brazil. He also highlighted the need for public diplomacy and national unity.

He specifically mentioned his visit to Washington, DC, and claimed that despite the presence of Pakistani delegates, US authorities acknowledged India's concerns.

He wrote, “Even as a Pakistani delegation was simultaneously present, we found US representatives, including those who met the Pakistani officials, echoing our concerns and urging decisive action against terror groups such as the Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed."

Tharoor also added that the three T's tech, trade and tradition should guide India's future foreign policy as it works to create a "more just, secure, and prosperous world."

The Congress veteran’s participation in the Operation Sindoor outreach program has sparked a heated verbal spat between the Congress and the BJP. Tharoor has been under fire from his party ever since he praised the Modi administration for the operation.

Congress members harshly criticised Tharoor's comments during the outreach, particularly when he ignored the surgical strikes carried out under the UPA government and commended the Modi administration's response to the crisis. But the veteran snapped back, saying he had "better things to do" and accusing the "critics and trolls" of misrepresenting his opinions.

His most recent compliments on the prime minister comes after he admitted to having disagreements with Congress while ignoring any bitterness against the party or leadership.
