Vadodara Car Crash: Suspect Refuses Drunk Driving

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] March 15: It could be a case of drunk driving as eyewitnesses, who caught Rakshit Chaurasia at the scene, told the police that he appeared intoxicated and was screaming “another round, another round” after coming out of the car, the official said.

Later, Rakshit Chaurasia told the media that he was driving the car at a speed of 50 kmph when he lost control of the vehicle due to potholes on the road.

“The car lost control due to the holes on the road. The car was running at speed of around 50 kmph. There was a scooty and a car. I was not drunk. I want to meet the family members of the deceased because it was my fault. Whatever they wish should happen," he told reporters.

Rakshit Chaurasia called the accident a "understatement" and sorry for it. The accused said that he would like to meet with the deceased's family and apologise "which is a very small word."

"I went to Holika Dahan and wasn't drunk; I didn't do any gatherings," he stated."The car was automatic... when the airbags opened, I panicked and pressed the accelerator instead of brakes," he explained how he suddenly lost control while driving.
When asked about the name of the female he screamed after leaving the car, he said he wasn't drunk at the time of the event and claimed to have used the name at random "in a  panic situation ."

Social media responses

When Rakshit Chaurasia claimed his innocence, social media was angry. Today X, a user by the name of Tanmoy replied, "Is He Now Free From Police Custody? He said, "A Brutal Crime Suspect Is Having A Press Meet."

"And even if he is not released, the same question still remains: Who Allowed a Suspect to Have a Press Conference?" he asked.
Another commenter made analogies to the hit-and-run case in Pune, when a juvenile court freed the minor defendant on the stipulation that he compose an essay on road safety.

It's amazing that Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia was arrested by the police and then freed. He crashed his automobile into several two-wheelers, killing one woman and injuring seven others. He is a law student at MS University. It appears that the essay is downloading," the post stated.

What the police stated

Hemali Patel, who was riding her scooter when the tragedy occurred, has been recognised as the deceased woman.

Chaurasia, a law student who lives in a PG hostel here, is originally from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, Momaya told reporters.

When Chaurasiya crashed the automobile into several two-wheelers at full speed while travelling towards Muktanand Circle, she claimed that the vehicle belonged to his friend Mit Chauhan, who was seated in the co-driver's seat.

As per the a law, efforts have begun to find Chauhan.

An eyewitness sees Chauhan leaving the vehicle with the front part of it completely crashed and charging Chaurasiya of creating the accident.

Chaurasia, looking unclear continues to shout, “Another round? "Another round?" In the footage, witnesses can be seen kicking Chaurasiya before turning him over to the police.

The media was able to view CCTV footage of the speeding car hitting with two scooters, knocking the riders down and dragging them along before stopping.

The car was speeding, first of all. This may also be a case of drunk driving. DCP stated, "We will perform his medical examination to find out whether he was drunk." Chaurasiya has a driving  license.
