New Delhi (India) September 27: Accenture is a multinational consulting firm. It has let go of more than 11,000 workers in the last three months. The corporation said that the slow corporate demand and the quick adoption of AI are the reasons for the layoffs. Accenture has warned that more workers may lose their jobs in the upcoming months as part of a restructuring plan worth $865 million.

CEO Emphasizes Reinvention and Rapid Upskilling

Chief Executive Officer Julie Sweet says, “We are reinventing what we sell, how we deliver, how we partner, and how we operate Accenture. We have expanded our partnership. We are investing in upskilling our re-inventors, which is our primary strategy.”

She adds, “We are exiting, on a compressed timeline, people where re-skilling based on our experience, and is not a viable path for the skills we need.”

Company Focuses on AI and New Skills

Details regarding workforce reductions are not made public. She also says that the business will quickly match its employees with customer demands for AI-powered products. The departures coincide with the company's ongoing investments in cloud services and generative AI. The two areas that have been seeing high demand.

The organization intends to hire individuals with the necessary abilities and fire those who cannot be retrained. Additionally, it seeks to sell or shut down any operations that conflict with its expansion goals.

Revenue Growth Continues

Accenture reported a 7% year-over-year increase in revenue to $17.60 billion for the June–August 2025 quarter.

CEO Sweet says, "I am very pleased with our 7 per cent growth in fiscal 2025, demonstrating our unique ability to deliver for our clients as they seek our help to reinvent and lead with AI. As clients continue to embrace reinvention to create value and drive financial results and business outcomes, they need help to build their digital core, prepare data and reimagine processes, all while training their people to work in entirely new ways.”

In Q4FY25, Accenture's employment shrank by approximately 11,000 workers. Its total headcount is down to about 780,000.

CFO Angie Park says, "The business optimization program has two parts. One related to rapid talent rotation that Julie mentioned, which reflects severance associated with headcount reductions that we are making in a compressed timeline, and second, related to the divestiture of two acquisitions that are no longer aligned with our strategic priorities.

Business Optimization Programme

Chief Financial Officer Park stated that the departures have nothing to do with efficiency. They are more strategic and linked to a mismatch in expertise. The exit and divestitures are both a part of a "business optimisation programme."

Accenture anticipates saving more than $1 billion as a result of the six-month program. Bloomberg said that the consulting firm works to meet client demand in the region. It also intends to train its employees in agentic artificial intelligence.
