15th June 2023, Mumbai: As the release date for the upcoming movie Adipurush draws near, industry experts and trade analysts have begun making projections about the film’s box office performance. With its captivating storyline inspired by the fabled Ramayan and a star-studded cast, Adipurush is expected to shatter box office records and leave a lasting impact on the film industry.
According to renowned film producer and industry specialist Girish Johar, Adipurush is poised for an extraordinary opening owing to the immense anticipation surrounding it. The film’s release across India on over 4000 screens in multiple languages further enhances its potential for success. Johar expressed confidence in Adipurush’s performance and anticipated an opening day collection ranging between 45 and 50 crore, with a possibility of even surpassing these figures.
Furthermore, Johar emphasized the impact of the movie’s reception during the weekend. He suggested that if Adipurush lives up to the audience’s expectations, the second and third-day collections could reach 60 crore and 70 crore, respectively. This positive momentum could result in a cumulative weekend revenue of 150 to 170 crore across all languages, assuming international audiences also embrace the film.
However, Johar cautioned that if Adipurush fails to meet the audience’s expectations, the revenue figures may not reach the projected levels. He highlighted the importance of delivering an excellent movie that resonates with viewers to ensure its success at the box office.
In recent developments, the ticket prices for Adipurush have witnessed an increase in several multiplexes. Luxury seats in Delhi multiplexes are now priced at Rs. 2000. When asked about the impact of this price adjustment, Girish Johar acknowledged the rise in costs and attributed it to Prabhas’ immense popularity in the South Indian film industry. However, he emphasized that the audience’s perception of the movie’s value will ultimately determine the impact of this pricing strategy.
Advance ticket sales for Adipurush commenced in India on June 11 and have already amassed an impressive sum of approximately 3.5 crore rupees. The movie’s producers also announced that advance bookings in the Australian and New Zealand markets, nearly a week ahead of the movie’s release, have already surpassed $16,000.
Adipurush features Prabhas in the role of Raghav, an incarnation of Lord Ram, while Kriti Sanon portrays Janaki, also known as Sita. Saif Ali Khan essays the character of Lankesh, Ravan’s lieutenant and the ruler of Lanka. The movie has received a U rating from the Central Board of Film Certification.
Jointly produced by T-Series, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, Rajesh Nair of Retrophiles, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, and Pramod and Vamsi of UV Creations, Adipurush is set for a worldwide release on June 16, 2023. Anticipation among the audience is at an all-time high, as they eagerly await the release of this epic cinematic experience.
