5th October 2023, Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster film, “Jawan,” continues to make waves at the box office, even as it approaches its 28th day of release. While it registered its lowest single-day collection to date, the film’s overall performance remains remarkable.
“Jawan” Box Office Collection Day 28
On its 28th day of release, “Jawan” added Rs 2 crore to its total collection, marking its lowest single-day haul yet. Despite this dip, the film has already achieved significant milestones, making it the biggest Hindi movie of all time in India, the second-biggest worldwide, and the fifth-biggest in the history of Indian cinema. “Jawan” has amassed an impressive Rs 615 crore nett in India and is on the verge of crossing the Rs 1100 crore gross mark at the global box office. The film initially opened with a record-breaking Rs 75 crore on September 7 and reached its peak with an Rs 80 crore collection on its first Sunday.
“Jawan” Sets Milestone On Fire
As the days went by, “Jawan” shattered numerous records, becoming the fastest Hindi film to reach the Rs 100 crore, Rs 200 crore, Rs 300 crore, Rs 400 crore, and Rs 500 crore milestones. It even became the first Bollywood movie to surpass Rs 600 crore in India. However, on its 28th day of release, the film’s primary Hindi version recorded a nationwide occupancy of 12%. While it faced competition from new releases like “Fukrey 3” and “The Vaccine War,” “Jawan” is expected to gradually lose momentum in the coming weeks.
“Jawan” Breaks Big Blockbusters Records
Globally, “Jawan” has amassed a gross total of Rs 1099.7 crore, surpassing Shah Rukh’s “Pathaan” but trailing behind films like “KGF: Chapter 2,” “RRR,” “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion,” and “Dangal.” While “KGF 2” and “RRR” have each grossed over Rs 1200 crore worldwide, it remains uncertain whether “Jawan” can achieve this milestone, as it is still approximately Rs 100 crore behind.

Reaching the lifetime collections of “Baahubali 2” (Rs 1700 crore) and “Dangal” (Rs 2400 crore) seems highly improbable. Nonetheless, “Jawan” and “Pathaan” combined have contributed over Rs 2100 crore to the global box office this year, establishing Shah Rukh Khan as the only Bollywood star to deliver two Rs 1000 crore-plus grossers in a single year and helping Bollywood make a comeback after two lackluster years.
