Ex CJI has been appointed as distinguished professor at NLU Delhi
Former Chief Justice of India Dr. Justice DY Chandrachud has been appointed as a Distinguished Professor at the National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi).

New Delhi (India) May 16: D Y Chandrachud, the former Chief Justice of India, has been named a "distinguished professor" at Delhi's National Law University (NLU).
Justice Chandrachud will lead the research direction of the new Centre for Constitutional Studies at NLU Delhi.
National Law University, Delhi said in a press release that, "We are profoundly honoured to welcome Dr Justice D Y Chandrachud, former Chief Justice of India, as a Distinguished Professor at National Law University Delhi.”
NLU Vice-Chancellor G S Bajpai said,"This historic association marks a transformative chapter in Indian legal education, bringing one of our most progressive jurists to mentor the next generation of legal minds. Justice Chandrachud's presence will profoundly enrich our academic ecosystem."

In July 2025, NLU Delhi also plans to launch a lecture series called In the Spirit of Justice: The DYC Distinguished Lecture Series. This series will concentrate on significant rulings written by Justice Chandrachud that address issues such as digital freedoms, privacy, LGBTQ+ rights, gender justice, and judicial reforms. His perspective will be used to discuss topics.
The 50th Chief Justice of India, Justice Chandrachud, retired in November 2024 after two years of service. He was a member of 38 Constitution benches until he joined the Supreme Court on May 13, 2016. He was involved in a number of important cases, such as the Ayodhya land dispute case, the Article 370 verdict, the decriminalisation of same-sex relationships, and the right to privacy case.
