They apparently took the extreme step of killing themselves on their way back to Dehradun once the event was over.

Locals noticed the deceased family struggling in their vehicle. They notified the emergency response system by contacting 112 and PCR was rushed to the scene. After breaking down the car's doors, the police took the unconscious victims to a private hospital and the Panchkula civil hospital. Everyone was declared dead.

A suicide note was found at the scene by the police. Its contents have not been revealed by the police as of now.

The initial investigation strongly suggests suicide by the family. The incident is thought to have been caused by a huge amount of overdue debt on the family.
