Gill, Jadeja & Sundar Lead India to Strong Draw at Old Trafford; Final Test at The Oval to Decide Series

New Delhi (India) July 28: In the fourth test match against England on Sunday, the Indian team bats with a lot of courage. They secure a hard-fought draw and maintain the series going into the final match.

India Bats Through Final Day for Draw

India ends the last day at Old Trafford on 425-4. They lost two wickets before they had scored a run in their second innings. But with constant confidence they bat for more than five sessions.

On a difficult day for England, the home crowd had nothing to be happy about. Indian captain Shubman Gill scores his fourth test century of the series. The determined and undefeated hundreds from Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar also plays a huge role.

Jadeja & Sundar Refuse Early Handshake

Ben Stokes is the captain of the England cricket team. He offers to shake hands to indicate a draw during the fourth Test at Old Trafford. But to his surprise, Indian batsmen Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar refused.

India was in a commanding position at that time. They decided to keep batting even though both were getting close to centuries. As the match went on, Stokes' irritated response highlights India's dominant position and emphasis on individual accomplishments.

Gill Praises Team Effort

After the match, captain Shubman Gill said, "Extremely pleased with the batting effort. Past couple of days we were put under tremendous pressure. It's all about taking the wicket out of the equation. Day 5 wicket, something is happening, every ball is an event. Wanted to take it ball by ball and take it deep, which is what we spoke about. We thought they deserved a century there (about the decision to not shake hands). Every match going till the last session on the last day. Plenty of learnings.”

Stokes Acknowledges India's Fightback

England captain Ben Stokes said, "I think when you have a good game as an allrounder, you assess by how that goes by the result at the end of the game. A heap of credit to the way Washington and Jadeja played there. Real high quality. It's one of those moments where you feel this is where the game will be broken open. The quality that India has, they were going to be hard to dislodge and they proved that. We threw everything at them and they were able to live up to the pressure of the final day. All the hard work was done by India.”

The last test is at the Oval in London. It will begin on Thursday. The test is crucial for the hosts to win the series. The series is still tied at 2-1 to England.
