When we think of Mahatma Gandhi, we remember not just the freedom struggle but also the courage. We remember the courage of simple man who believed in truth and non-violence. Bapu showed that change can come without hate or weapons. Whether, it is the Champaran movement or the Salt March, this approach was evident everywhere. He dreamt of an India where equality, justice, and humanity are the real strengths.

For Gandhi, freedom was not only about ending British rule but also about removing social evils. He wanted every Indian, rich or poor, man or woman, to have dignity. His idea of Sarvodaya meant the rise of all, not just a few. Even today, these values guide our thoughts. Whenever we talk about fairness and unity, these values come in our mind.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi often says that Gandhi’s values are not history but a living guide for today’s India. His Swachh Bharat Mission turned Gandhi’s cleanliness call into a mass people’s movement. The Atmanirbhar Bharat plan gives new life to Gandhi’s idea of Swadeshi by making Indians proud of local products.

The Jan Dhan Yojana and Digital India programmes connect even the poorest villager with banks, governance, and services. This is similar to Gandhi’s dream of self-rule at the village level. Just as Bapu promoted khadi and village industries, today’s Vocal for Local campaign is giving traditional crafts and products global recognition.

Gandhi has always believed that women’s strength was equal to men. He believed it as an important need for building a strong society. Modi’s government has pushed schemes like Ujjwala Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and self-help groups for women, bringing Gandhi’s thought into real action. For the youth, Skill India and Startup India give opportunities to stand on their own feet with self-reliance.

Gandhi often said that religion should bring people closer. He also shared that religion should not divide them. The slogan “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” was given by the Modi government. It means taking everyone together. It also means development for all. It shows trust of all people. It also says that everyone should make efforts.
This slogan gives the message of unity. This belief of taking everyone along is central to India’s growth today. When India celebrates festivals together or when heritage like Chhath Puja gets UNESCO recognition, it strengthens Gandhi’s idea of cultural unity.

India will complete 100 years of independence in 2047. Modi has given the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. It means a developed and strong India. This vision is linked to Gandhi’s dream. Gandhi also dreamed of a better and self reliant India. This dream is about truth, self-reliance, and social harmony shine. Cleanliness drives, transparency in governance, and schemes for the poor all carry a Gandhian touch. The journey from Gandhi’s India to Modi’s India is not about replacing one with another. But this journey is all about walking together on the same path with new steps by new generations.

Every Gandhi Jayanti reminds us of Bapu. His values are not only written in books. They should also be followed in real life. We should live by his teachings. This makes Gandhi Jayanti meaningful. When we talk of self-reliance, equality, and service, we are carrying his message forward. Modi’s policies try to turn these values into reality for a new generation. India’s story today is like a bridge where one end tied to Gandhi’s truth and non-violence, and the other moving towards the vision of a modern, developed nation.
