Nowgam Police Station Blast Kills Nine; Probe Ordered as Accidental Explosion Linked to Faridabad Terror Crackdown
Authorities claimed that an explosion at the Nowgam police station on the outskirts of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, late Friday killed nine people. The incident was accidental, but it was connected to a recent large explosives recovery by agencies during a terror module crackdown in Faridabad, Haryana.
New Delhi (India) November 15: A probe into the "accidental" explosion that tore through the Nowgam police station in Srinagar late on Friday, November 14, 2025, killing nine persons and injuring up to thirty-two more, has been ordered by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Claims that any terror outfit located in Pakistan, including JeM's PAFF, was involved in the explosion that happened "accidentally" were explicitly denied by the J&K Police on Saturday, November 15.
Key Officials Among Victims as Forensic Assessment Turns Tragic
The explosion happened while officials were removing samples from a sizable stash of explosives that had been seized from Faridabad, Haryana, in relation to an interstate terror cell case. The samples were then sent to the forensic team.
A J&K Police special investigation team (SIA) member, three FSL team members, two crime scene photographers, two revenue officials from the magistrate's team, and a team tailor were among the nine people killed.
Prashant Lokhande, joint secretary of the Union Home Ministry, stated in a statement about the incident that although the recovered explosives were being sent for forensic analysis in accordance with regular operating practice, the cause of the explosion has not yet been determined. He stated that the explosives had been transported within the previous two days.

The government stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the families of the victims, Mr. Abdullah said and added, every possible help to them would be extended by our side.
He posted, “The Chief Minister has assured that the government stands firmly with the families who lost their loved ones in the tragic Nowgam police station explosion and will provide every possible support to them. He has also directed Health Minister Sakina Itoo to ensure the best treatment for the injured and assured that the damaged structures will be duly compensated,” on social media platform X.
Faridabad Terror Module Crackdown Connected to Seized Explosives
The charge filed at Nowgam on October 19 after Jaish-e-Mohammed posters warning of a "spectacular attack" were discovered is connected to the Red Fort explosion in Delhi that killed at least ten persons.
Due to the investigation, J&K Police were able to disrupt an interstate JeM module in Faridabad, Haryana, and confiscate approximately 3,000 kg of chemicals, reagents, and flammable materials from two Faridabad villages.
On the morning of November 10, 2,563 kg of the roughly 3,000 kg of explosives were found at the home of Hafeez Mohammad Ishtiaq, a Mewat resident and imam of the Al Falah mosque in Faridabad's Dhera Colony. Detonators, timers, and an additional 358 kg of explosive material were found during subsequent operations.
