India v/s England: Shubman Gill’s massive double century helps India score 587; England struggling at 77/3
In the second of the five-match Test series, England captain Ben Stokes chose to bowl first against Shubman Gill's India after winning the toss.

New Delhi (India) July 4: Day 3 will see Joe Root and Harry Brook return to action for England, who are behind by 510 runs. After India scored an incredible 587 runs in Edgbaston, Bazballers were reduced to 77/3 by Akash Deep's double in his opening over.
With a historic 269-run knock, captain Shubman Gill put the Indian team in control and helped the team to reach a massive 578 on the scoreboard. After taking Jasprit Bumrah's place in the starting lineup, Akash immediately made an impression by taking the wickets of Ollie Pope and Ben Duckett in consecutive deliveries. In the meantime, Siraj drove out Zak Crawley to disadvantage the home team.
Harry Brook nearly fell to Siraj as well, but the batter survived a close lbw appeal on 1. In the final over, Brook had another chance to score when he cut on against Prasidh Krishna and shouldered the ball off the stumps that he nearly stepped on.
Washington Sundar, a batting all-rounder who was brought in to support the batting, gave his captain outstanding support even though India's lower order had previously been a problem, especially in Leeds. Joe Root bowled him just before tea after he had contributed 42 runs in a 144-run partnership.
At the end of the day, England managed to score a few more runs because of Joe Root's 18 and Harry Brook's attacking shots.
Gill's incredible innings earlier on Day 2 broke two important records: it became the highest score by an Indian Test captain and surpassed Virat Kohli's 254 against South Africa in Pune in 2019. It also became the highest score by an Indian batsman in a Test match played outside of Asia, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's 241 against Australia in Sydney.
England defeated India in the opening Test match at Headingley in Leeds, giving them a 1-0 series lead. They reached the finish line with five wickets after chasing 371 runs in the last innings thanks to Ben Duckett's century.
