New Delhi (India) September 23: Azam Khan is a senior Samajwadi Party leader. He was set free Tuesday from the Sitapur jail in Uttar Pradesh. After over 23 months, he left the jail. According to jail sources, he was given bail, but this morning his release was delayed because he had failed to pay a court-imposed fine.

Family & Supporters Restricted

Adeeb Azam Khan, Azam Khan's son, and a significant number of fans had arrived at the jail gates in the morning to greet him. However, they were not permitted to wait outside the prison by the police officers.

Khan had not paid the fine in a case that was still ongoing in the Rampur court. It created a new issue during the paperwork for his release this morning. In that case, he was fined Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000 under two sections. After that, it was agreed that the fine would be lodged when the Rampur court opened at ten in the morning. According to the source, his release was completed once Sitapur Jail received a fax confirming payment.

SP targets BJP

The SP claims that the UP government has falsely accused Mr. Khan. They also add that the bail shows that the senior politician will eventually receive justice.

Shivpal Singh Yadav, a senior SP leader says, “Injustice was being done continuously to Mohammad Azam Khan Saheb and his family. The bail highlights that the family will ultimately get justice. Our party solidly stands behind the Azam Khan family. We will legally fight the BJP against the persecution and false cases.”

Section 144 in Sitapur City

Section 144 prohibitory orders were implemented in Sitapur city before Khan's release. Police warned people not to gather close to the jail's grounds by using loudspeakers. Authorities separated the crowd after a significant number of SP employees, leaders, and supporters showed up outside the jail in spite of these limitations.

Sitapur Circle Officer Vinayak Bhosle said, “Everyone knows that the roads in the city are narrow, and due to Navratri there is already a lot of crowd. No one is allowed to stand without reason here. Section 144 is in force, and we are taking action.”

Bail Granted in Rampur Cases

Azam Khan was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court in the Quality Bar land grab case. This case's First Information Report was filed at the Civil Lines police station in Rampur.

Khan went to the High Court after the FIR and was given relief. He was also granted bail by the Allahabad High Court on September 10. This was in a different case involving the forceful eviction of residents from the Dungarpur colony in Rampur.

Over the years, 16 FIRs have been filed against Azam Khan. Khan's most recent case was filed at the Vasant Vihar Police Station. It was under Sections 25 of the Arms Act, 120B (Criminal Conspiracy), and 506 (Criminal Intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Section 120B IPC (Criminal Conspiracy), Sections 392/397 IPC (Robbery and Robbery with Attempt to Cause Death or Grievous Hurt), and Sections 457/427 IPC (House Trespass and Mischief Causing Damage) and Provisions of the Arms Act are the most severe allegations brought against Khan.
