Mass shooting in Toronto kills one and injures 5 others; investigations underway
On Tuesday night, there was a shooting in Toronto's Lawrence Heights area that left one person dead and five others injured.

New Delhi (India) June 4: A mass shooting in Toronto, Canada, has left one person dead and a number of other people injured. According to reports , the incident took place in North York's Lawrence Heights area.
The Toronto Police received reports of a shooting near Flemington and Zachary Roads, in the vicinity of Ranee Avenue and Allen Road. The police and paramedics arrived shortly at the location after 8.30 p.m.
Toronto Police have said that "non-life-threatening gunshot wounds" were the reason for at least five people being hospitalized. Information on possible suspects has not yet been made public by the authorities.
Toronto Police posted, “1 male confirmed deceased. 5 people with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds transported to hospital” on social media platform X.
Toronto mayor Olivia Chow said, "Disturbed by news of the shootings in the Lawrence Heights area this evening. My office is in contact with Toronto Police, who are on scene now and investigating, and the local councillor Deputy Mayor Mike Colle”
She also added, “I want to thank the first responders - Toronto Police, Fire and Paramedic services for your work on a very busy and challenging scene. Toronto Police are working to provide an update soon.”
According to the Toronto police, a man in his 40s was declared dead at the site.
There were four other men and a woman hospitalized after being shot. At the time, their injuries are unknown.
As the inquiry continues, a command post has been set up in nearby areas of Ranee Avenue and Flemington Road. No information on potential suspects has been made public by the police.
