Mukesh Ambani Doubles Reliance Investment to ₹7 Lakh Crore in Gujarat, Pledges Jobs, Green Energy, AI Leadership & Olympics Boost
On Sunday, Mukesh Ambani detailed Reliance’s plan to invest ₹7 trillion to enhance state capabilities in India’s state of Gujarat over the next five years, primarily in areas like AI and renewable energy.
New Delhi (India) January 11: On Sunday, the chairman of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani, revealed that he is doubling his company's capital in Gujarat. He is thus pledging to pour in 7 trillion over the next five years. At the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Summit held in Rajkot, Ambani envisaged the investment as a 'pledge' to transform the state from a mere potential investment destination into a performance oriented one.
Massive Job Creation for Gujaratis and All Indians
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, shared that his firm's business in Gujarat is not merely about leasing space to others. The Chairman of Reliance Industries said that he was making five definite promises to the state. He mentioned that Reliance was already Gujarat’s largest investor, having invested more than ₹3.5 trillion over the last five years.
Ambani highlighted job creation as the first of the company’s commitments to the state over the coming years on its ongoing and upcoming projects.
“We will double this investment to ₹7 lakh crore over the next five years. This will create exponential employment, livelihoods, and prosperity for every Gujarati and every Indian,” he said.
Jamnagar's Shift from Oil to Global Green Energy Hub
The second commitment, he said, is to establish global leadership in clean energy and green materials. In Jamnagar, Reliance is expanding its vision of the world’s largest integrated clean energy ecosystem, focusing on solar power, battery energy storage, green hydrogen, green fertilizers, sustainable aviation fuel, maritime fuels, and advanced materials.
“Jamnagar, once the world’s largest exporter of hydrocarbon fuels, will in the coming years become India’s largest exporter of green energy and green materials,” Ambani said.
Jio's AI Revolution Starts in Gujarat with Massive Data Center
Reliance’s multi-gigawatt, utility-scale solar project, one of the largest in the world, provides round-the-clock clean power production using advanced storage and modern grid integration, he said, supporting India’s growth and solidifying Gujarat’s position as a leader in renewable energy.
The fourth commitment aims to make Gujarat India’s AI pioneer. Mr. Ambani said Jio will develop India’s largest AI-ready data center in Jamnagar to make AI affordable and accessible to every Indian.
“Jio will launch India’s first people-centric AI platform, built in India for India and the world. It will enable every citizen, starting from Gujarat, to access AI services in their own language, on their own devices, every day, making them more efficient and productive,” he said.
Olympics 2036 Push with Sports Complex and Initiatives
The fifth pledge involves collaborating with the Gujarat government on Olympic goals and social initiatives. Mr. Ambani expressed that the Reliance Foundation fully supports the Prime Minister’s ambitions to bring the 2036 Olympic Games to Ahmedabad.
“The Reliance Foundation stands ready to support the Prime Minister’s vision of bringing the 2036 Olympics to Ahmedabad. As a concrete step, Reliance will partner with the Gujarat government to manage the Veer Savarkar Multi-Sports Complex in Naranpura, which will serve as a hub for national and international sporting events and for training India’s future champions,” he said.
New Hospital, Education Hubs Amid India's Resilience
He has also made significant headlines with his announcement of a world-class hospital in Jamnagar, Saurashtra, as well as the expansion of Reliance’s educational facilities. For me, the development of Gujarat is central to our work, he said.
Mr. Ambani also noted that the world is changing at a rapid pace and geopolitical shifts are creating new challenges and uncertainties. However, he observed that India remains resilient.
