Operation Sindoor still ongoing; says Indian Airforce amid ceasefire agreement

New Delhi (India) May 11: The Indian Air Force (IAF) declared on Sunday that it has completed the duties it was given in Operation Sindoor and that the mission is still in progress.

"The Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully executed its assigned tasks in Operation Sindoor, with precision and professionalism. Operations were conducted in a deliberate and discreet manner, aligned with National Objectives. Since the Operations are still ongoing, a detailed briefing will be conducted in due course. The IAF urges all to refrain from speculation and dissemination of unverified information," the IAF said in a statement.

This occurs one day after India and Pakistan reached an immediate ceasefire agreement in response to a sharp increase in cross-border tensions brought on by the deadly terror incident in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, on April 22.

The Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 and targeted terrorist facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir that have been used to plan and direct terrorist strikes against India. About 100 terrorists, including the top five Let and JeM commanders, were killed when India hit nine different locations.

After that Pakistan made an effort to strike back by attacking both military and civilian targets. India responded violently, destroying Pakistan's Lahore air defence system. Pakistan attempted to strike once more, targeting defence positions with hundreds of drones and missiles. India responded by attacking eight Pakistani military installations.

In a focused, precision-led attack, Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter jets targeted 11 military air bases throughout Pakistan between May 8 and May 10. Defence establishment sources confirmed to the depth of the destruction.

Nur Khan (Chaklala), Rafiqui, Murid, Sukkur, Sialkot, Pasrur, Chunian, Sargodha, Skardu, Bholari, and Jacobabad were among the bases attacked. These locations, which include aircraft deployment hubs, air defence nodes, and drone warfare command centres, were picked for their operational significance.
