Owaisi Speaks on India-Pakistan Ceasefire, Highlights Terrorism Concerns
Ceasefire may bring short-term relief, but the road to lasting peace requires real change.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 10: Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of AIMIM, shared his views on the recently announced ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Owaisi emphasized that lasting peace between the two nations will only be possible if Pakistan stops supporting terrorism. His statement came in the wake of a significant agreement to halt military actions, but Owaisi believes that peace cannot be achieved without a strong commitment to ending terrorism.
Ceasefire or No Ceasefire, Terrorism Must End
While praising the ceasefire, Owaisi expressed concerns over Pakistan’s continued support for terrorist activities against India. He mentioned the deadly Pahalgam terror attack as a stark reminder of the need to combat terrorism, even in the midst of a ceasefire. The AIMIM chief was clear in his message that no peace deal could be permanent unless Pakistan takes steps to eliminate its support for terrorism from its soil.
Support for Indian Forces and the Victims of Conflict
In his message, Owaisi also extended his respect to the Indian Army, acknowledging their bravery in handling the situation. He paid tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives in the conflict, including Army jawan M. Murali Naik and ADDC Raj Kumar Thapa. The AIMIM leader also expressed his sorrow for the civilians affected by the violence, underlining the importance of safeguarding innocent lives amid such conflicts.
Questions on Third-Party Mediation and International Pressure
Owaisi raised concerns about the involvement of foreign powers in brokering the ceasefire, questioning India’s shift in stance on third-party mediation. He reminded the government of India’s historical position, especially following the Simla Agreement of 1972, where third-party involvement was rejected. Owaisi urged the Indian government to clarify the situation and to ensure that Kashmir remains a strictly internal matter for India.
The Need for Continued International Pressure on Pakistan
Owaisi stressed the importance of maintaining pressure on Pakistan through international bodies like the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). He questioned the effectiveness of neutral talks with Pakistan, wondering if they would yield real results in preventing future terrorist attacks. The AIMIM chief suggested that India must continue its diplomatic efforts to ensure that Pakistan remains on the FATF grey list, holding the country accountable for its role in global terrorism.
