Patna Businessman Gopal Khemka shot dead; investigations underway
Gopal Khemka, the owner of Magadh Hospital, was shot by the unidentified attacker as he got out of his car near an apartment near the Panache Hotel.

New Delhi (India) July 5: In Patna, Bihar, prominent businessman Gopal Khemka was shot dead by an unidentified attacker on a motorcycle six years after his son, Gunjan Khemka, was similarly murdered.
Khemka, the owner of Magadh Hospital, one of the state's oldest private hospitals, was shot by the accused on Friday night as he got out of his car near the Panache Hotel, a residence in the upscale Gandhi Maidan area.
A Special Investigation Team has been established to look into the murder, according to Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar. The SP City Central will be in charge of the SIT.
Diksha Kumari, a senior police official in Patna, stated that CCTV footage from the area is being examined to obtain important clues for the investigation and that all possible angles are being looked into.
She said, "On the night of July 4, at around 11 pm, we received information that businessman Gopal Khemka has been shot dead in the south area of the Gandhi Maidan. The crime scene has been secured, and further investigation is underway. One bullet and one shell have been recovered."
In 2018, his 38-year-old son, Gopal, was also killed in broad daylight in front of his cotton factory in Vaishali, on the outskirts of Patna, when an unidentified assailant on a bike opened fire as he was about to exit his vehicle.
CCTV footage taken at the main entrance at 11:39 PM shows a man in a blue shirt waiting outside and looking back and forth several times before a maroon and then a white car pulls up. The man rushes toward the maroon car and shoots Gopal Khemka, who is in the driver's seat, as soon as it stops outside the main gate. Then he rides off on his bike.
Shankar, Khemka's brother, accused the police of being disinterested, claiming that officers showed up at the scene almost three hours after the shooting. He claimed that his brother, a director of the Bankipore Club, was on his way home by car. At 11:40 p.m., the attackers started shooting at him as he got out of his vehicle. Shankar added that the police did not arrive on the scene until 2:30 in the morning.
MP Pappu Yadav has questioned the Nitish Kumar government's claims of good governance in light of the incident, which has sparked political outrage with assembly elections in just a few months.
