PM Modi Leads Somnath Swabhiman Parv, Honors Temple's 1,000-Year Legacy in Gujarat Amid Packed Schedule

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Somnath today for “Somnath Swabhiman Parv”, which is held in the sacred presence of Somnath Mahadev, the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas. He was received with open arms by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

New Delhi (India) January 10: PM Modi prayed at the famous Somnath Temple during the Swabhiman Parv, a symbolic anniversary of the tenacity of the temple in the face of history and civilizational pride, which has risen up to the occasion from its inception. 

Prayers and Omkar Chanting at Iconic Somnath Temple

Modi prayed at the temple and engaged in the Omkar Mantra chanting ceremony held during the ritual that takes place to celebrate 1,000 years of faith and history. PM Modi also joined Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel and deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi for a drone show with the sponsor Somnath Swabhiman Parv.

The Somnath Swabhiman Parv is a four-day festival to mark 1000 years since the first attack on the Somnath temple. This incident is in reference to the January razing of the temple by Mahmud of Ghazni and how it has been reconstructed over the centuries.

Sunday's Shaurya Yatra for Temple Warriors

The Prime Minister comes to Gujarat for three days to see the Somnath event. On Sunday, the Prime Minister will attend the Shaurya Yatra that is given to those who died fighting for the Somnath Temple.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to attend on Sunday the Shaurya Yatra, a procession marking the many warriors who died for the sake of the Somnath Temple. He will be performing Darshan and Pooja at Somnath Temple and a public performance on the occasion of Somnath Swabhiman Parv.

Inaugurates Vibrant Gujarat Conference in Rajkot

Later in the day, the Prime Minister also travels to Rajkot to join the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for the Kutch and Saurashtra Region. At the conference, he will inaugurate the trade show and exhibition. 

The Prime Minister's speech on the occasion will include his inauguration of Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for the Kutch and Saurashtra Region at Marwadi University, Rajkot, followed by the prime minister's address to the gathering. In addition, PM Modi will also announce 14 greenfield smart Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation Limited (GIDC) estates and inaugurate the medical device park of GIDC at Rajkot. 

Ahmedabad Metro Milestone and Germany Talks

The Prime Minister will come out of Rajkot and visit Ahmedabad at which time he will inaugurate the last portion of Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad metro, which is being implemented from Sector 10A to Mahatma Mandir. 

PM Modi will meet the German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Monday morning. They are also going to visit the Sabarmati Ashram, the place where Mahatma Gandhi lived as he fought for independence in India, and the International Kite Festival on the Sabarmati Riverfront.

The meeting will follow at 11:15 a.m. with the bilateral India-Germany conference at the Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre in Gandhinagar, where the two leaders will discuss the results of the 25 years old new India-Germany strategic alliance.
