Polish Tennis Player, Iga Swiatek Reaches Her First Wimbledon Finals; To Face Amanda Anisimova
Iga Swiatek, a Polish tennis star, defeated former Olympic champion Belinda Bencic in the semifinals to move to her first Wimbledon final.

New Delhi (India) July 11: The long wait for victory on grass has finally come to an end as Iga Swiatek has advanced to her first Wimbledon final. In just one hour and eleven minutes, the World No. 1 easily defeated Switzerland's Belinda Bencic 6-2, 6-0 on Centre Court on Thursday, July 10.
Swiatek had never made it past the All England Club quarterfinals or to the championship game of any grass-court competition before this year's competition. She is now only one victory away from winning her first championship on a surface that has always been difficult for her.
SWIATEK'S STATEMENT ON WIN
Swiatek said, "I never dreamt it would be possible for me to play in the final. Tennis keeps surprising me. I thought I lived through everything,” in an on-court interview.
She also added, “Every Slam is totally different. It's hard to compare these journeys. But for sure, like, for now I've been enjoying just this new feeling of being a bit more comfortable on grass. I'm kind of maybe thinking about it a bit more. For sure I'm enjoying it. But obviously there have been Slams where I enjoyed my game as well.”
Swiatek's win made her the first Polish player since Agnieszka Radwanska in 2012 who made it to the Wimbledon women's singles final.
FINALS AGAINST AMANDA ANISIMOVA
Swiatek will play against Amanda Anisimova in the finals. The American Amanda Anisimova had defeated world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka on Centre Court to reach the finals.
Swiatek said, “For sure, she must be playing great. She also had a great tournament before Wimbledon (reaching the final at Queen's). She knows how to play on grass. With her game style, the surface fits her. So it's going to be a challenge. I haven't watched a lot, so I'm going to just prepare tactically tomorrow” regarding the competition.
SWIATEK'S DOMINATING PERFORMANCE
In the first set, Swiatek dominated. She took an early break to take a 3-0 lead and gave Bencic little opportunity to cover. She ended the set in 37 minutes after winning a second break at 5-2.
The difference in the second set was even greater. Swiatek stayed focused and won a double break to take a decisive 5-0 lead. She displayed total control from beginning to end as she concluded the match with a third break.
Swiatek won 83% of the points on her first serve. She also dominated the match with confidence and accuracy. She hit 26 winners, 15 more than Bencic.
Swiatek has a perfect 5-0 record and is undefeated in Grand Slam finals. She has four Roland Garros titles and one US Open. She will now try to complete her set with her first Wimbledon victory.
