Prime Minister Approves 8th Pay Commission for Salary and Pension Revisions

On Thursday, the union cabinet of India acknowledged to establish the 8th pay commission to alter Government employees salaries and pensioner grants.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took this decision at a cabinet meeting, told by union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Ashwini Vaishaw. Further, he added that the chairman and two commission members will be appointed.

India Prime Minister has told that this 8th pay commission will fuel growth and help in to improve the betterment of life.

The central government once a year organises a pay commission to check and modify the salaries of employees and pensioners.

The 7th pay commission was established in 2016 and will end in 2026, and it was led by supreme court Judge Justic A.K.Mathur . The data shows that there are 49 lakh government employees and approximately 65 lakh pensioners and all will be benefited by this commission. Including serving and retired defence officers.

Who is not covered by pay commission?

PSU stands for public sector undertaking employees, and gramin Dak sevak is not covered under pay commission. Workers working in coal India will also not be covered under this commission.

Who is covered by pay commission?

Fitment is used as calculator to calculate salaries and pensions, Union employees asked for 3.68 fitment factor for revising salaries for the 7th pay commission, but the government of India decided it to be 2.57 fitment.

 Reacting to the announcement 

 The bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh praise government decision and said that it show how committed government are towards the working class.

 All India defense Employee federation C. Srikumar told that the employees are already demanding to establish the 8th pay commission.

"This progressive step shows the government's commitment to addressing he concerns of central government employees and ensuring their well-being "said by The central Secretariat Service Forum(CSS Forum) and thanked them.

"since 1947, 7 pay commission have been constituted, with the last one implemented in 2016.As the seventh pay commission's term ends in 2026, initiating the process in 2025 ensures sufficient time to receive and review recommendations before its completions." Address Mr. Vaishnaw The pay commission will also be beneficial for serving and retired defense employees.
