Royal Challengers Bangalore V/S Kolkata Knight Riders: Match called off due to rain; RCB on top of the table
Rain caused the cancellation of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs. Kolkata Knight Riders game at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

New Delhi (India) May 18: Rain played a spoiler on Saturday, stopping the Indian Premier League 2025 from starting as planned. Due to the inability to play due to heavy rain, the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was called off before a ball was bowled.
Each team leaves with one point. With 17 points, RCB leads the table and has strengthened their chances for a playoff place. On Sunday, RCB will officially ensure qualification, if DC or PBKS lose.
For Virat Kohli supporters, who wore white to support the player who announced his Test retirement during this break, it was a difficult evening.
After earning only 12 points from 13 games, KKR was eliminated from the playoff race, and the washout proved to be a blow to the defending champions. After Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, and Chennai Super Kings, they were the fourth team to be eliminated.
Meanwhile, RCB benefited from the points that were shared. With 17 points from 12 games, they overtook the Gujarat Titans to take the lead in the points table.
Punjab Kings are now in third place with 15 points from 11 games. With 14 points from 12 games, the Mumbai Indians are in fourth position.
No team has formally secured a playoff ticket in this highly competitive season. The Delhi Capitals (13 points) and Lucknow Super Giants (10 points) are still mathematically in competition.
