RR Beats MI by 27 Runs in Rain-Shortened Guwahati Match

New Delhi (India) April 8:Rajasthan Royals secured a thrilling victory over the Mumbai Indians by 27 runs in a rain-affected match on Tuesday, which was reduced to just 11 overs a side. This exciting encounter took place at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati. With this win, the Royals have now triumphed in all three of their matches, soaring to the top of the points table , while the Mumbai Indians faced their second consecutive defeat.
The clash between these two teams was delayed for over two and a half hours as rain threatened to ruin the game, almost leading to a washout on two occasions. Fortunately, the skies cleared around 9 PM, allowing the match to finally get underway.

Royals Hit 150 in 11 Overs

Yashasvi Jaiswal was the star of the show, smashing an impressive unbeaten 77 runs off just 32 balls. He was well supported by Sooryavanshi, who contributed a quickfire 39 off 14 balls. Together, they formed an impressive opening partnership, adding 80 runs in just 4.6 overs and helping the Royals post a challenging total of 150 for 3 in their shortened innings.

MI Drop to 23/3 Early

In response, the Mumbai Indians struggled right from the start. They lost three wickets in a chaotic powerplay, finishing the first three overs at a disheartening 23 for 3. Big names like Rohit Sharma (5), Suryakumar Yadav (6), and Hardik Pandya (9) could not find their rhythm under pressure as they chased a daunting target of 151 runs.
Though Tilak Varma (14) and skipper Hardik Pandya (9) attempted to stabilize the innings with some boundaries, Rajasthan’s bowlers maintained their grip on the game with consistent breakthroughs. A brief flurry of runs came from Sherfane Rutherford who scored 25 off eight balls. However, Sandeep Sharma quickly turned the tide back in Rajasthan's favor with a stunning catch to dismiss Rutherford.
In the end, the Mumbai Indians could only muster 116 runs in their 11 overs, falling short of their target.

Parag Praises Strong Core

Riyan Parag, RR captain said, “Feels great. I think the way the boys have showed up, can't ask for anything more. Kudos to them. I always knew that this team was a strong team even at the auction. We have a strong core. Jofra's messaging is go and bowl as fast as you can, even Nandre as well. Vaibhav and Jaiswal as well. Don't have words to express. No. 1 opening pair in this combination” after the win.
