Overall, adding half an iced coffee with half a protein shake can help you feel less hungry, but make sure your diet and lifestyle are still healthy. "Weight loss isn't just about eating protein; it's about providing your body with balance," said Dr. Kiran Soni, head of the division of nutrition and health at Yatharth Hospital Greater Noida.
She said, "Skipping meals and depending only on protein also lose weight is not a healthy or long-term plan." For overall fitness the body also needs carbs, healthy fats, nutrients and minerals. Protein is important for keeping muscles, speeding up the metabolism & feel full.
Why the so-called "weight loss drink" may or may not be safe
Dr. Soni warned that avoiding food will cause you to lose muscle not get sufficient calories & have low energy over time. It may additionally slow down your metabolic rate which would make it hard to lose weight. "Rather than avoiding meals, a balanced diet with regulated meals of protein, fibre, & healthy fats will give you lasting energy and help you lose fat," she says. To go with lean meats, eggs, lentils, dairy, nuts & seeds, you should eat vegetables, fruits, and whole grains as well.
She added that eating a lot of protein without having enough fibre and water can make issues with digestion more severe and put stress on the liver. "Managing parts, eating slowly, and getting regular exercise are better ways to lose weight." rather than skipping meals, try eating balanced, nutrient-dense foods at normal times to keep your digestive system going and improve your health as a whole. "Long-term changes in lifestyle, not quick fixes, are what make weight loss last," Dr. Soni stated.
